Trinity Deepens Partnership with Local Presbyterians

March 15, 2016 – Trinity School for Ministry announced today that they have deepened their partnership with the Presbytery of the Alleghenies of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church with a formal agreement that has been approved by both Trinity’s Board of Trustees and the Presbytery. Under this partnership, Trinity has developed a Presbyterian Track for their Master of Divinity curriculum. This new Presbyterian Track has been approved by the Presbytery of the Alleghenies but will be open to other Presbyterians who undertake theological studies at Trinity.

“We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with the Presbytery of the Alleghenies,” stated the Very Rev. Dr. Justyn Terry, Trinity’s Dean and President. “We have many friends and alumni in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and look forward to the opportunity to train future pastors for this and other Presbyterian denominations.”

As a part of this partnership, the Rev. Dr. Rich Herbster, a trusted adjunct instructor at Trinity for many years, has been invited to join Trinity’s faculty as the Director of Presbyterian Studies.

“I am delighted to take on this new role,” remarked Dr. Herbster. “Trinity has been training Presbyterians for ministry for decades, but now we are able to improve on an already excellent experience. Those preparing for ministry who are theologically reformed and evangelical will benefit tremendously from this new partnership.”

The Presbytery of the Alleghenies ( covers parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and New York and is a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Since their founding in 2011, the Presbytery has nearly tripled in size and now has 62 congregations and approximately 16,000 members.

Trinity School for Ministry ( is an evangelical seminary in the Anglican tradition.
