Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, has been granted approval by the Association of Theological Schools for a new degree program: Master of Sacred Theology. The S.T.M. degree (the designation comes from its Latin title, Sacrae Theologiae Magister) is a second-level, post-M.Div. degree which provides an opportunity for advanced study to develop more fully an area of expertise in a theological discipline through seminar courses and research. The S.T.M. can also be used as preparation for doctoral research.
The S.T.M. degree is the fifth degree program to be offered by the thirty-three year old seminary: it is added to its established Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Mission, Master of Arts (Religion) and Doctor of Ministry programs. The Association of Theological Schools, which accredits and oversees the academic programs of over 250 seminaries in the United States and Canada, has referred to Trinity as a hidden jewel: a great but relatively unknown seminary. The addition of the S.T.M. program brings further distinction to the seminary's respected position among Anglican seminaries in North America.
Trinity School for Ministry is an evangelical seminary in the Anglican tradition. Begun in 1976, the seminary has grown steadily and has trained over 900 students from throughout the worldwide Anglican Communion.
