Morning Psalms: 61, 62 | Evening Psalm: 68
Genesis 42:1-17 | 1 Corinthians 5:1-8 | Mark 3:19b-35

Accountability will be required

The brothers of Joseph are faced with a situation of verification. They are pleading their innocence; “We are honest men… we your servants are twelve sons of one man…and one is no more.”(Gen 42:11,13) But even if they are not spies, are these friends honest? Does the act of disposing of their brother leave them innocent? And the Lord said to Cain, “the voice of your brothers’ blood is crying to me from the ground.” (Gen 4:10)

As Christians we need to know that innocent woes, tears, and all forms of falsehood done to others cry out to God who does not remain silent. That is why the greatest commandment is love. Paul in his First Letter to the Corinthians says “love bears all things” (13:7). How I wish we would ask of God the grace to walk in this love to save ourselves from future disappointments when the Son of God comes to judge the world.

Joseph knows the crude action done to him but he also remembers how his dreams have come true as his brothers’ bow before him. Unpleasant actions in our earthly walk will call for an accounting before the omniscient God who knows our every thought and nothing can be hidden from Him. Beware that you don’t stand before Him guilty while pleading innocent. He knows it all, he is the Alpha and the Omega.

Just have a right walk with Jesus and you will stand justified before Him. Road blocks in your way will turn into stepping stones to your destiny and above all you will stand to judge the nations.

Lord help me to be careful to walk in your way so as to claim innocence and honesty when you return. Amen
