"Who Do You Say I Am?" Identifying Jesus in the Old Testament & the Early Church

Week One of the January Intensives (Jan 8-12, 2024)

This course (and lecture series) will explore the development of YHWH Christology, which is a way of understanding Jesus to be the “Lord” of the Old Testament. It will explore Old Testament Theophanies and how they were understood as Christophanies by early Christians, and then examine the doctrinal implications as expressed in early Christian sources. The scope covers some Second Temple Jewish literature, the New Testament, and texts from the first three centuries of Christian history.

The annual Oden Lectures are the conclusion of this course. Event registration is included.

Taught on campus by the Rev. Dr. David Wilhite
