Online Education

Trinity School for Ministry seeks to be a “global center for Christian formation, producing outstanding leaders who can plant, renew, and grow churches that make disciples of Jesus Christ.” (Vision, Purpose and Values)  In the service of this vision, Trinity’s Office of Distance Learning seeks to make Christian academic and spiritual formation accessible to those who, for a variety of reasons, cannot relocate to our campus in Ambridge, PA. Through our online courses, we offer more than simply the ability to study at a distance—we offer the opportunity to join with a community of disciples who by God’s grace are engaging Paul’s challenge “to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,” as we speak the truth in love (Eph 4:15, ESV).

Online Courses

The Office of Online Education offers a range of Trinity’s courses on a rotating basis each Fall, Spring, and Summer. The courses mirror the residential courses: semester-long classes, weekly reading and assignments, regular interaction with the faculty and class members, and an average of 8–12 hours of study, per week, per course. The coursework is largely asynchronous—students are not required to be online at the same time.  However there are some synchronous components in some courses (chat sessions, conference calls or web-conferencing). Participation in these discussions, combined with the other assignments, demands an extensive amount of reading and writing.

The Master of Arts in Religion (MAR), in any of its concentrations can be completed entirely online, or through a combination of online and residential study.  The Diploma in Christian Ministry (DCM) and the Diploma in Anglican Studies (DAS) are, likewise, available online.  Residential students may also augment their coursework through online study.
